Intro

Todoist on Windows uses Ctrl as its primary modifier. The Windows desktop app includes a global quick-add shortcut, opening a task entry panel from anywhere on the desktop without switching to the Todoist window. The full shortcut set mirrors Mac with Ctrl in place of Command.

Windows-specific shortcut notes

Global quick add. The Windows desktop app has a system-level shortcut to open a task entry panel from anywhere. The exact shortcut is in the table above and configurable in Todoist's preferences.

Task entry. Ctrl-based shortcuts for adding new tasks, opening the task editor, and confirming or canceling entries.

Natural language scheduling. Typing scheduling language directly in the task name, "finish proposal Friday", "review budget every month", works the same on Windows as on Mac. Todoist parses the date and removes it from the task title.

Priority assignment. Typing "p1" through "p4" in the task entry field assigns priority levels, the same inline priority syntax as on Mac.

Project navigation. Keyboard shortcuts for switching between Inbox, Today, Upcoming, and specific projects.

Inbox sweep by keyboard. Working through Todoist's inbox to schedule, prioritize, and file tasks by keyboard is faster than the mouse workflow. The full shortcut set for this is in the table.
