What Discord shortcuts cover

Server and channel navigation. Arrow keys plus a modifier step between channels or servers, and adding Shift jumps straight to the next unread one. A further modifier narrows that to unread channels with a mention.

Message actions. With a message focused, single keys edit, reply to, forward, or pin it, no menu required. A text shortcut in the message box reacts to your last message with any emoji.

Voice call controls. Answering, declining, muting, and deafening all have dedicated shortcuts, along with a way to jump straight back to whatever call you're currently in.

Reading and marking read. A single key marks the current channel as read; adding Shift marks the whole server. Page Up and Page Down scroll chat history, and a Shift combination jumps to the oldest unread message.

Quick actions. Uploading a file, opening the emoji picker, and switching servers with the quick switcher are all one keypress away.

Printable PDF

A printable PDF of Discord shortcuts is available for each platform. The server and channel navigation section is the most useful to keep nearby if you're active across several servers.

FAQ

What is the main modifier key for Discord shortcuts?

Option on Mac and Alt on Windows, combined with the arrow keys, handle most navigation between channels and servers. Adding Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) to the same arrow combination switches from channel navigation to server navigation.

Can I control Discord voice calls without opening the call window?

Yes. Mute, deafen, answering, and declining calls all have dedicated shortcuts that work from anywhere in the app, not just while the call window is focused.

Does Discord use the same shortcuts on Windows and Mac?

Almost all of them, with the modifier keys swapped: Alt and Ctrl on Windows do the job of Option and Cmd on Mac. The one notable exception is moving through your page history, back and forward: Windows uses Alt+Left/Right, while Mac uses Cmd+[ and Cmd+].
