Intro

Teams on Windows uses Ctrl as its primary modifier and has the most complete shortcut set of any Teams platform. Most official Teams documentation and onboarding materials use Windows shortcuts as their reference.

Windows-specific shortcut notes

Mute and unmute. Ctrl+Shift+M toggles the microphone during any call or meeting. This is the shortcut most Teams users learn first.

Search. Ctrl+E jumps to the Teams search field. Searching for a message, person, file, or channel from the keyboard is faster than navigating the sidebar.

Channel and activity navigation. Shortcuts for moving between channels, switching to unread activity, going to the activity feed, and navigating between Teams sections (Chat, Teams, Calendar, Files, Calls) are the ones that most reduce mouse dependency in daily Teams use.

Call controls. Ctrl+Shift+M for mute; camera on/off, raise hand, send a reaction, screen sharing, and ending the call each have dedicated shortcuts covered in the table above.

Compose and messaging. Opening the compose box, applying formatting (bold, italic), editing your most recent message, and replying to a thread all have shortcuts.

Keyboard shortcut help. Ctrl+. opens Teams' own keyboard shortcuts panel, organized by category, available without leaving the app.

Printable PDF

The Teams Windows shortcut list is available as a printable PDF. The call control section is worth printing when first setting up Teams habits.
