Brave Browser Keyboard Shortcuts

Brave is built on Chromium, so its shortcuts follow the same Ctrl-based pattern as Chrome. A few names are Brave's own: Private mode instead of Incognito, and the Brave Task Manager in place of Chrome's. HKeys covers Brave on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Windows and Linux Ctrl is the modifier throughout: Ctrl+T for a new tab, Ctrl+Shift+N for Private mode.

Mac Cmd replaces Ctrl for the same shortcuts: Cmd+T for a new tab, Cmd+Shift+N for Private mode.

What Brave Browser shortcuts cover

Tabs and windows. Ctrl/Cmd+T opens a new tab, Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+N opens a new window in Private mode, and Ctrl+Tab (Windows/Linux) or Cmd+Option+Right (Mac) cycles between open tabs.

Browser features. Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+B toggles the bookmarks bar, Ctrl/Cmd+H opens history, and Ctrl+Shift+J / Cmd+Option+I opens Developer Tools.

The address bar. Ctrl+L / Cmd+L jumps to the address bar; typing a search term and pressing Enter searches with your default engine.

The page itself. Ctrl/Cmd+F finds text on the page, Ctrl/Cmd+D bookmarks it, and Ctrl+Equal / Ctrl+Minus (Cmd on Mac) zoom in and out.

Printable PDF

A printable PDF of Brave Browser shortcuts is available for each platform. The tab, window, and address bar shortcuts are the ones worth learning first.

FAQ

Is Brave Browser's keyboard shortcut set the same as Chrome's?

Mostly. Brave is built on Chromium, so most Ctrl/Cmd-based shortcuts match Chrome exactly. The differences are naming, not keys: Private mode instead of Incognito, and the Brave Task Manager and Brave Help Center replace Chrome's equivalents.

Are Brave's keyboard shortcuts the same on Windows and Linux?

Yes. Brave documents Windows and Linux together as one set, both using Ctrl as the primary modifier. Mac uses Cmd instead, plus a few Mac-only combinations like Cmd+Option+Right/Left for switching tabs.

Can I customize Brave's keyboard shortcuts?

Yes. Brave's own shortcuts page notes that the shortcuts listed can be customized from Settings, System, Shortcuts.
