FL Studio Keyboard Shortcuts

Windows Ctrl and Alt as the modifiers. Every shortcut on this page works with the physical Ctrl, Alt, and Shift keys directly.

Mac Cmd and Option as the modifiers (Windows' Ctrl and Alt). A few Windows keys, like Delete and Insert, need the Fn key on Mac laptop keyboards that don't have dedicated keys for them.

Tool switching in the Playlist and Piano roll. Single letter keys switch tools with no modifier: P for the Draw tool, C for Slice, D for Delete, E for Select, T for Mute, Z for Zoom. These only work while typing-keyboard-to-piano mode (Ctrl/Cmd+T) is off.

Channel Rack and Step Sequencer. Number keys 0-9 mute or solo the first ten channels directly; Ctrl/Cmd plus a number solos instead of muting. Alt plus the arrow keys reorders channels.

Piano roll note editing. Ctrl/Cmd+Q quantizes the selection, Ctrl/Cmd+U chops notes, and Alt plus a letter opens one of the roll's editing tools (Randomize, Strum, Chop, Arpeggiator, and more).

Transport and playback. Space starts and stops playback, Ctrl/Cmd+Space pauses, and Ctrl/Cmd+M toggles the metronome.

Are FL Studio shortcuts the same on Windows and Mac?

Almost all of them. FL Studio uses the standard Ctrl-to-Cmd and Alt-to-Option swap between Windows and Mac, and every shortcut in this list follows that pattern. The only differences are physical: some Mac laptop keyboards need the Fn key to send an Insert or a forward Delete, keys that Windows keyboards have dedicated buttons for.

What does Ctrl+T (Cmd+T) do in FL Studio?

It toggles "Typing keyboard to piano," which turns your computer keyboard into a piano keyboard for playing notes. While it's on, single-key tool shortcuts like P, C, D, and E stop working as shortcuts because those keys are now playing notes instead.

How do I mute or solo a channel in the Channel Rack without a mouse?

Press a number key 0-9 to mute or unmute one of the first ten channels in the rack, or hold Ctrl (Cmd on Mac) and press a number to solo or unsolo it instead.
