Camtasia Keyboard Shortcuts

Windows Ctrl is the modifier throughout, plus a few function-key shortcuts (F9/F10 for the Recorder, F1 for help) and a PowerPoint add-in with its own recording shortcuts.

Mac Cmd replaces Ctrl for most editor commands, though several Recorder, timeline, and library shortcuts use Control or Option instead, and a few Windows-only shortcuts (the PowerPoint add-in, several library navigation keys) have no Mac equivalent at all.

Recording. Start, pause, and stop a screen recording, plus add a marker while recording, all from function keys that work outside the main editor.

Canvas. Zoom, pan, and scale controls for previewing your video at different sizes, including scroll-wheel zoom with no modifier needed.

Timeline editing. Group, split, ripple delete, and stitch clips without leaving the keyboard. Single letters like S (split) and P (add placeholder) work without any modifier, similar to tool keys in other creative apps.

Panel switching. Single letters (B, E, R, F, N, T, O, A, U, V, D, X) jump straight to a specific panel tab, media bin, library, animations, audio effects, and more, without opening a menu.

Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and Adobe Photoshop sit near Camtasia because they cover the same screen-recording-to-finished-video pipeline, editing, effects, color, and graphics work that a Camtasia project often moves into or out of.

Does Camtasia use the same shortcuts for recording and editing?

No. The standalone Recorder uses function keys (F9 to start or pause, F10 to stop), while the Editor has its own, much larger shortcut set built around single letters for panel switching and Ctrl or Cmd combinations for timeline work.

Are Camtasia's Editor shortcuts the same on Windows and Mac?

Mostly, but not entirely. Both use Ctrl or Cmd as the main modifier for most commands, but a handful of shortcuts, including the zoom-to-fit key and several library navigation shortcuts, use genuinely different keys rather than a simple Ctrl/Cmd swap.
