Intro

Affinity on Windows is a single app that contains three studios: Vector, Pixel, and Layout (plus the Canva AI studio). This page covers the app-level shortcuts shared across studios: file handling, document navigation, panels, zoom and pan, and switching studios. Tool shortcuts that change with each studio are on the individual studio pages. Affinity uses Ctrl as its primary modifier on Windows.

Shared shortcuts and switching studios

Switching studios. Move between the Vector, Pixel, and Layout studios from the studio switcher in the top-left. This replaces the separate apps Affinity used before its 2025 relaunch.

Tools change with the studio. Single-key tool shortcuts activate without a modifier, and the available tools depend on the active studio. Per-studio tool lists are on the studio pages.

Document and file handling. Open, save, export, and new-document shortcuts use standard Ctrl-based combinations consistent across studios.

View, zoom, and pan. Zoom to fit, zoom to 100%, and Space+drag to pan are the same in every studio.

Panels and workspace. Panels can be rearranged into custom studios, with keyboard toggles for workspace elements.

The three studios on Windows

Vector studio: vector design, node editing, and artboards. Formerly Affinity Designer. Comparable to Adobe Illustrator.

Pixel studio: photo editing, layers, selections, and masks. Formerly Affinity Photo. Comparable to Adobe Photoshop.

Layout studio: multi-page layout, text frames, and master pages. Formerly Affinity Publisher. Comparable to Adobe InDesign.
