Trello Keyboard Shortcuts

Trello's shortcuts are almost entirely single letters used while hovering over or viewing a card: c archives, d sets a due date, l opens labels, n inserts a card. Arrow keys and j/k move between cards, and modifier chords are mostly limited to copy, cut, paste, and saving text. HKeys covers Trello on Windows and Mac.

Windows and Mac The full shortcut set is identical between Windows and Mac: single-letter shortcuts for card actions, arrow/j/k navigation, and the same set of board-level shortcuts. The only difference is the modifier: Ctrl on Windows, Cmd on Mac, used for copy, cut, paste, and saving text.

What Trello shortcuts cover

Card navigation. Arrow keys select adjacent cards on a board; j and k double as down and up. The same keys, plus j/k, page through a card's neighbors once its details are open.

Card actions. Single letters do most of the work while hovering over or viewing a card: c archives, d sets a due date, l opens labels, m opens members, n inserts a new card, s watches it, t edits the title.

Copy, cut, and paste. Cmd/Ctrl+C copies a card, Cmd/Ctrl+X cuts it, and Cmd/Ctrl+V pastes it into whichever list you're hovering over, even across different boards.

Board and search. / focuses the search box, f opens the card filter menu, b searches your boards, and ] toggles the board sidebar.

Printable PDF

A printable PDF of Trello shortcuts is available for each platform. The single-letter card actions and the copy/cut/paste combo are the ones worth learning first.

FAQ

Are Trello's keyboard shortcuts the same on Windows and Mac?

Yes, almost entirely. Every shortcut uses the same key on both platforms except copy, cut, paste, and saving text, which use Ctrl on Windows and Cmd on Mac.

Why don't my Trello shortcuts work?

Most Trello shortcuts only fire while you're hovering over a card or viewing its details, not from just anywhere on the board. Typing in a text field (a comment, a card title) also suspends single-letter shortcuts, since the letter is treated as text instead.

How do I turn off Trello's keyboard shortcuts?

Trello's shortcuts page has a "Shortcuts enabled" toggle. Turning it off disables the single-letter and navigation shortcuts covered here.
