Intro

Numbers on iPad supports a broader keyboard shortcut set than on iPhone, iPad is a more practical device for spreadsheet work, and the shortcut coverage reflects that. With an external keyboard connected, cell navigation, formula entry, and table management are fully keyboard-accessible.

iPad-specific shortcut notes

External keyboard required. Numbers keyboard shortcuts on iPad activate with a physical keyboard connected, Apple's Magic Keyboard for iPad, Smart Keyboard Folio, or any Bluetooth keyboard.

Command modifier. Numbers on iPad uses Command (⌘), following iPadOS keyboard conventions.

Cell navigation. Arrow key navigation between cells and basic range selection work with an external keyboard on iPad. The full Cmd+Arrow data range jump may have more limited behavior than on Mac, the table above covers what is confirmed for iPadOS.

Formula entry. Entering formulas, navigating the formula bar, and confirming entries are keyboard-accessible.

Table management. Adding rows and columns and switching between tables on a sheet are covered.

Discovering shortcuts. Holding Command on a connected keyboard in Numbers for iPad shows the available shortcuts for the current context.
