Intro

Zoom on Linux uses Alt as its primary modifier for call controls, the same pattern as Windows. If you know Zoom shortcuts on Windows, the same Alt-based combinations apply on Linux.

Linux-specific shortcut notes

Alt modifier throughout. Zoom call controls use Alt on Linux, matching Windows exactly. Alt+A to mute, Alt+V for video, Alt+S for screen sharing, the full set.

Mute and unmute. Alt+A toggles the microphone. The most-used Zoom shortcut on any platform.

Push to talk. Hold Space while muted to temporarily unmute. Release Space to mute again. Available on Linux without any configuration.

Screen sharing and call controls. Alt+S starts and stops screen sharing. Alt+T pauses and resumes. Alt+Y raises and lowers your hand. Full call control shortcuts are in the table above.

Desktop environment conflicts. Alt-based shortcuts are commonly used by Linux desktop environments for window management (e.g., Alt+F4 closes windows). Zoom's Alt shortcuts, particularly Alt+S for screen sharing, are unlikely to conflict with most DE defaults, but worth checking if a shortcut doesn't respond.
