Windows Ctrl as the primary modifier, Alt for panel toggles and secondary actions.

Mac Cmd as the primary modifier, Option for panel toggles. A handful of shortcuts use different modifiers between platforms rather than the usual Ctrl-to-Cmd swap, noted where they occur.

What Ableton Live shortcuts cover

Session and Arrangement views. Tab switches between them. Session View launches clips (Enter), Arrangement View is for linear timeline editing (Ctrl/Cmd-E splits a clip).

Panel visibility. Ctrl/Cmd-Alt/Option plus a letter or number hides and shows almost every panel: the Browser, Mixer, Sends, Overview, In/Out, and more.

MIDI note editing. The Clip View MIDI Note Editor has its own shortcut set for quantizing, chopping, grouping, and adjusting note velocity.

Transport. Space bar plays, F9 records, and the metronome toggles with O.

FAQ

What is the difference between Session View and Arrangement View in Ableton Live?

Session View is a grid of clip slots for launching loops live or building a set improvisationally. Arrangement View is a linear timeline for traditional song arrangement. Tab switches between them, and the underlying clips and tracks are shared between both views.

Are Ableton Live keyboard shortcuts the same on Windows and Mac?

Most shortcuts follow the standard Ctrl-to-Cmd and Alt-to-Option swap. A few genuinely use a different modifier on Mac than the direct swap would suggest, such as Redo (Ctrl-Y on Windows, Cmd-Shift-Z on Mac) and several drag shortcuts that use Option on Mac where Windows uses Ctrl.

How do I hide or show a panel in Ableton Live?

Most panels toggle with Ctrl-Alt (Windows) or Cmd-Option (Mac) plus a letter or number, for example Ctrl-Alt-B or Cmd-Option-B for the Browser. The full list is in the Showing and Hiding Views section.
