Intro

PyCharm on Linux uses the exact same default keymap as Windows: Ctrl as the primary modifier and Alt for tool windows (Alt+1 through 0) and window stretching.

Linux-specific shortcut notes

Search Everywhere. Double-tap Shift from anywhere to search files, actions, symbols, and settings in one box.

Tool windows use Alt, not Ctrl. Alt+1 opens Project, Alt+0 opens the Commit tool window, the standard IntelliJ Platform numbering for docked panels.

Word and line navigation uses Ctrl and Home/End. Ctrl+Left/Right moves by word, Home and End jump to the start or end of the line.

Refactor This. Ctrl+Alt+Shift+T opens a menu of every refactoring available at the caret, rename, extract, move, safe delete, and more.

Printable PDF

The PyCharm Linux shortcut list is available as a printable PDF (shared with Windows, since both platforms use the same default keymap). Search Everywhere, Refactor This, and the run/debug shortcuts are the ones worth learning first.
