Does Ctrl+Z undo across the whole Nuke session on Windows?

Ctrl+Z undoes the last action in the active panel, whether that's a node-graph edit, a Roto point move, or a Curve Editor change. It follows normal undo-stack behavior rather than being scoped to a single node.

What does holding Ctrl or Shift while pressing a node key do?

Both keys combine with a node's own single-key shortcut. Ctrl replaces the selected node with the new one, so Ctrl+B swaps the target for a Blur node. Shift creates the new node in a fresh branch instead of inline, so Shift+B adds a Blur node beside the current one.

Is Nuke's middle mouse button (MMB) required to use these shortcuts?

Many Node Graph and Viewer actions, panning, zooming with a drag, and the virtual sliders on number fields, are bound to the middle mouse button. A three-button mouse is effectively required for the full shortcut set; a two-button mouse or trackpad will miss some of these gestures.

Intro

Nuke on Windows uses Ctrl as its primary modifier and Alt for secondary actions. Single-key node insertion (B, C, G, M, R, W) and the J/K/L Viewer playback controls work exactly as documented, with no platform-specific remapping.

Windows-specific shortcut notes

Function keys. F5 and F7 render all or selected Write nodes directly from the Node Graph or Properties panel. F8 refreshes clips in the Project/Tags/Versions Bin. None of these require a modifier on Windows.

Window layouts. Ctrl+F1 through Ctrl+F6 save the current window layout to a numbered slot; Shift+F1 through Shift+F6 switch between saved workspaces.

Mouse buttons. Left, middle, and right mouse buttons each carry distinct meaning throughout Nuke, especially in the Node Graph and Curve Editor, where MMB pans and zooms and Ctrl+LMB samples pixel color in the Viewer.
