Intro

Firefox on Windows uses Ctrl as its primary modifier. The shortcut set is very close to Chrome on Windows, the main differences are in Firefox-specific features (Reader View, developer tools panel layout, picture-in-picture) and in a few Windows-specific behaviors like menu bar access.

Windows-specific shortcut notes

Ctrl as primary modifier. All standard browsing shortcuts use Ctrl. Tab management, address bar, history, bookmarks, and developer tools all follow this pattern.

F-key shortcuts. On Windows, F-keys work as function keys by default, no Fn modifier needed. F5 reloads the page, F12 opens Firefox developer tools. Alt+Left and Alt+Right navigate back and forward as an alternative to the keyboard shortcut.

Menu bar access. Firefox on Windows retains a traditional menu bar (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help). Pressing Alt while the browser is focused toggles the menu bar, allowing full keyboard navigation of all menu items. This menu access exists in Firefox on Windows in a way it doesn't in Chrome.

Reader View on Windows. Reader View functions the same on Windows as on Mac, accessible from the address bar or by shortcut when available for a page. Text and display controls within Reader View are keyboard-navigable.

Developer tools on Windows. F12 opens Firefox's developer tools on Windows. The panel navigation shortcuts, switching between Inspector, Console, Network, Debugger, and other tabs, are in the table above.
