Intro

Apple Mail on Mac uses Command as its main modifier for composing, sending, and replying, with Option and Control layered in for address-field variants, junk handling, and window management.

Mac-specific shortcut notes

Composing. Command-N starts a new email, Shift-Command-A attaches files, Shift-Command-V pastes text as a quotation, and Shift-Command-D sends the message.

Replying and forwarding. Command-R replies, Shift-Command-R replies to all, Shift-Command-F forwards, and Shift-Command-E redirects the selected email to someone else without marking it as forwarded.

Address fields. Option-Command-B shows the Bcc field and Option-Command-R shows the Reply-To field when composing.

Inbox and junk. Shift-Command-N gets new mail, Shift-Command-U toggles read or unread, Control-Command-A archives the selection, Option-Command-J erases junk mail per the filter, and Shift-Command-J moves only the selected emails to Junk.

Windows. Option-Command-N opens a new Mail viewer window, Command-0 shows the main viewer window, Control-Command-0 shows Mail Activity, and Option-Command-W closes every Mail window at once.
